DEVELOPMENT
Maximum grant of €200,000.
The Business Development Scheme facilitates value-added projects, including new business initiatives, expansions and transformation activities that shall contribute to the regional development of Malta. The scheme may support various activities such as the initial development phase of undertakings establishing an operational base in Malta, expansion projects, consolidation of activities and the reengineering of business processes. Supported initiatives should lead to new opportunities, additional employment, increased competitiveness or widening market reach. The Malta Enterprise may award tax credits or cash grants of up to € 200,000 to undertakings that carry out a project aimed to expand and transform their business operation or to consolidate their current activities and reengineer their business processes.Eligible undertakings
Legal person established to carry out an economic activity and liable for Income Tax in Malta (incl. self-employed, partnership and co-operatives).Eligible activities
Projects related to future development of the following activities shall be considered for support in the form of cash grants or tax credits:- manufacturing;
- management of waste and environmental solutions;
- research and development activities;
- provision of industrial services and solutions to manufacturing operations;
- digitisation of processes2;
- development of digital service and systems (including video games and entertainment systems) intended for international markets;
- maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft and other electromechanically equipment;
- artisanal works;
- services that by nature are not limited to geographic scope and are scalable internationally.
Eligible costs
Eligible costs shall be directly related to the operation of the undertaking in the following areas:- Relocation costs of Key Personnel;
- Payroll Costs;
- Lease and Rental of Real Estate;
- Support and Advisory Services;
- Rights, Licences and Certifications; and
- Procurement and Relocation of Tangible Assets.
